What is the name of some good music production software?

My hubby records music on a digital recorder. And I know that there is software that you can buy to give the music a better sound, make it sound better produced and polished off ect. Can someone give me the name of a good program? Be specific please.

    Cakewalk Sonar!
    they have a home studio version of sonar but the flagship is Sonar Producer 8

    Recomment “FL Studio”

    Google that for the homepage and a free demo – fully functional but will not save.
